Hello and welcome to the Buckinghamshire NHS Smokefree Support Service website. The pages within this site have the potential for you to find support to improve your health and well being for good.
Last year we helped over 2,000 people to stop smoking. You are just a few clicks or a phone call away from joining these successful quitters.
So Who are We?
We are a free NHS service which provides expert advice, information and more importantly support to local people who want to stop smoking. We make it easy and affordable for you to get stop smoking aids such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) i.e. patches, gum etc or other prescription products from your GP such as Champix or Zyban if they are suitable for you.
We understand the struggle that some people have when they repeatedly try and fail. There is however, good news! It has been proven that you are four times more likely to stop smoking with support from an NHS Stop Smoking Adviser. In fact some of our clients come along just for support without using any aids and that is fine too.
What we can offer you to help you succeed:
- Free access to our many support centres that we have throughout Buckinghamshire and confidential support for a minimum of six weeks. See our link at the bottom of the page to find your nearest centre.
- We are a confidential service and won’t share your personal details with any other organisation without your express permission.
- We work with local employers, and offer free workplace groups for staff who find it difficult to attend support centres, even if you don’t live in Bucks but work in the area.
- The ability to get Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches, gum etc) available at prescription cost or free if you are exempt.
- We have the expertise to support you through the process of quitting with experienced, friendly and committed NHS Stop Smoking Advisers.
- We offer a range of daytime or evening appointments in many locations.
- Your own GP surgery may also have specialist clinics to support you to stop smoking.
The cost of an NHS prescription is £7.65. You get two weeks supply of NRT on one prescription for a maximum of eight weeks. If you are exempt from paying prescription charges then your prescription for NRT, Champix or Zyban is also free.
As we are part of the NHS we do not charge for the support we offer or for our expert advice.
